Customer success software pricing
So here is what their buyers paid. Every established customer success platform on one table, priced from observed contracts rather than the entry SKU on a listing page, with the unit each one charges by, because that decides whether a platform is cheap for your team or expensive.
Quick answer
Customer success software costs $35,000 to $66,150 a year at the median for an established platform, plus implementation. Vendr's observed medians are Gainsight $49,879, Totango $66,150, Planhat $41,255, ChurnZero $44,681 and Vitally $35,000. Only Custify publishes a rate (from $899 a month). Exeechain publishes all of its: $0 to $2,999 a month, no implementation.

Every platform, one table
Reported prices are observed medians or ranges from procurement data, not vendor entry SKUs. Each platform links to a page showing every figure with its source and the date it was read.

Medians are Vendr's, from observed purchases: 367 for Gainsight, 102 for Totango, 100 for ChurnZero, 81 for Vitally, 35 for Planhat. Custify and ClientSuccess ranges are from their own listings and from Vendr respectively. Full provenance is at the foot of the page.
The unit decides the price
Two platforms with the same median can cost your team wildly different amounts. The list price does not tell you which; the pricing unit does.
Per seat
Reported for Gainsight and ChurnZero: a platform fee plus a licence for each user, with practitioners citing around $1,400 a seat a year. Adding a CSM adds to the bill. Cheapest for a small team on a large book. See the Gainsight and ChurnZero pricing pages for the reported seat rates.
Per customer account
Used by Planhat and Totango: the number of customer organisations you manage sets the tier, and internal users are unlimited. Cheapest for a large, high-touch team on a concentrated book, and most expensive for a lean team on a long tail. Planhat's bands step at 500 and 2,000 accounts.
Tier plus seats
Used by Vitally: an account-sized tier from $1,500 to $2,000 a month, then $50 to $150+ per additional user per month. The listed $299 is real and describes nobody, because a CS team is made of seats.
The practical test is to count two things before you take any call: how many people need to act in the tool, and how many customer organisations you will load into it. A ratio heavy on people favours the per-account platforms. A ratio heavy on accounts favours the per-seat ones. Whichever platform's unit matches the thing you have less of is the one whose quote will surprise you least.
Every established platform then charges implementation separately, and at the small end it can exceed the licence: Totango's reported $20,000 floor is more than its Starter band. That line is on none of the listing pages and on all of the invoices.
The entry price is not the price
Three platforms attach a number to their own name somewhere public. In every case the cheapest contract anyone has observed is a multiple of it.
ChurnZero: $12,000 listed
Capterra and Software Advice list a Basic plan at $12,000 a year. Vendr's observed median is $44,681 and Oliv AI's reported curve reaches $180,100. The gap is a platform fee plus per-seat plus per-account, charged together.
Vitally: $299/mo listed
The cheapest contract Vendr has observed is $14,728 a year, four times the listed rate, and the reported Starter tier is $1,500 to $2,000 a month. The listing is a procurement floor, not a price.
Totango: was $249/mo, now nothing
Totango published packages until mid-2026 and has since withdrawn the page. It is quote-only, and Vendr's observed median of $66,150 is the highest on this table, because the buyers it now sells to run the biggest books.
Go deeper
Each page carries the full reported cost table, a worked year-one example for the same eight-person team on 400 accounts, and the negotiation levers buyers report using.
Where we fit
We publish our prices, which is the only difference we can claim without knowing your quote.
Exeechain's plans are $0 on the Free tier, which runs the entire product on a sample book so you can judge the agent's work before anyone quotes you, then $299, $999 and $2,999 a month on your own customers. Month to month, no implementation fee, no per-seat charge. First scores in 15 minutes. Full accuracy in 24 hours.
The established platforms on this page earn their price where a CS Ops team will configure them and the book is large enough that a twelve-week rollout is a rounding error. Exeechain is the fit when the retention work, the drafted saves and the failed-payment recoveries, needs to start this week and nobody on the team is going to administer a platform.
Provenance
Named so you can check them. A pricing page that cannot show its working is worth exactly as much as the vendor's own quote.
SaaS procurement marketplace publishing observed contract values from real negotiated purchases. The most reliable public signal, because it reflects what buyers paid rather than what vendors asked.
Oliv AI
Per-user cost breakdowns for Gainsight (Feb 2026) and ChurnZero (Feb 2026), including the volume-discount curve by seat count. (no direct link yet - this one has not been re-checked since the figures were compiled.)
Accoil
"Real Pricing" alternative roundups for Gainsight and ChurnZero, reporting list ranges by team size and account volume. (no direct link yet - this one has not been re-checked since the figures were compiled.)
Vendor-supplied listing pages. The only place several of these vendors attach a number to their own name, though entry SKUs rarely reflect a real deployment.
Planhat and Totango contract data from verified purchases (35 and 102 respectively), re-read September 2026.
Vendor reviews with tier-level monthly equivalents for Planhat and Vitally, cited to Vendr. Read September 2026.
Customerscore.io and ChurnTools
First-year totals including implementation, and reported time to value. (no direct link yet - this one has not been re-checked since the figures were compiled.)
r/CustomerSuccess
Practitioner threads on platform costs. Useful for the shape of a quote (platform fee plus per-seat plus per-account) even where absolute figures have aged. (no direct link yet - this one has not been re-checked since the figures were compiled.)
ZoomInfo
Published July 2026. Confirms Gainsight publishes no rates and reports contracts commonly capping annual increases at 6%. (no direct link yet - this one has not been re-checked since the figures were compiled.)
Figures were compiled on 14 September 2026 and are re-verified quarterly. Reported ranges move. If you have a current quote that falls outside these bands we would genuinely like to know, because a pricing page that drifts from reality stops being useful to anyone.
Questions
For an established platform, plan on $35,000 to $66,150 a year at the median plus implementation. Vendr's observed medians are $49,879 for Gainsight, $66,150 for Totango, $41,255 for Planhat, $44,681 for ChurnZero and $35,000 for Vitally. Published entry prices such as ChurnZero's $12,000 a year or Vitally's $299 a month describe a small team on a limited tier and are rarely what anyone pays.
Quote-based pricing lets a vendor price each buyer according to what that buyer appears able to pay, and it slows comparison shopping. Of the seven platforms here only Custify publishes a rate; Totango did until mid-2026 and has since withdrawn its packages page. The practical consequence is that your first quote is a starting position, and buyers who arrive with observed contract data negotiate better than buyers who do not.
By published rate, Custify from $899 a month and Exeechain from $0 on a sample book or $299 a month on your own. By observed contract, the cheapest deals Vendr has seen are around $10,920 for Totango, $14,083 for Gainsight and $14,728 for Vitally, all for small books on limited tiers. Cheapest depends on the pricing unit: a large team on a small book pays least where accounts are the unit, and a small team on a large book pays least where seats are.
Three units, and the unit matters more than the list price. Per seat, reported for Gainsight and ChurnZero, where adding a CSM adds to the bill. Per customer account, used by Planhat and Totango, where the size of your book sets the price and users are unlimited. And tier plus seats, used by Vitally, where an account-sized tier is topped up with per-user charges. Most quotes also carry a platform fee, and every established platform charges implementation separately.
It is the line the list price hides. Gainsight is reported at 20% to 40% of year one over a 4 to 6 month rollout. Totango is reported at $10,000 to $50,000 over about 12 weeks. Planhat's services run 15% to 40% of the licence. ChurnZero is reported at 6 to 8 weeks to value. Vitally's onboarding is the lightest at $2,000 to $10,000. Budget the person who runs the rollout as well as the fee.
Exeechain's own plans are published: $0 on the Free tier (sample book only), then $299/mo for Shield, $999/mo for Multiplier and $2,999/mo for Command, all month-to-month with no implementation fee and no per-seat charge. First scores in 15 minutes. Full accuracy in 24 hours. At $999/mo an Exeechain year costs $11,988, below the cheapest contract Vendr has observed for any platform on this page. The established platforms earn their price where a CS Ops team will configure them; Exeechain is the fit when the retention work needs to start this week.
